Spring Field Meeting

The East Midlands, 31st May to the 2nd June 2024

Call for expressions of interest

The spring field meeting is back after an interregnum decisively caused by the COVID-19 years!

On this occasion, we will focus on an area we haven’t visited before: the Charnwood Forest in Leicestershire, home to the expected source of rock Group XX axes.

We will base the meeting in Mountsorrel.

The meeting will include:

  • A business meeting and the opportunity to hear what everyone has been working on.
  • At least a day looking at raw material sources and outcrops
  • The field trip will:
    • Focus on Bradgate Park and Beacon Hill, near Leicester, where all the geological strata are present.
    • Visit the site of the levelled Aston Cursus, a nearby contemporary monument.
